TRENDnet 3-Port Print Server TE100-P21 (Blue)

TRENDnet 3-Port Print Server TE100-P21 (Blue) Reviews

More Picture

The TE100-P21 is an awesome print server. It allowed me to connect an old HP Laserjet 2100M (using LPT port) and a Canon Pixma 4000 inkjet (USB) to a bunch of computers, some running Windows XP, some Linux (Centos 5.4), and one -- the critical one -- running Windows 98SE (virtual under VMWare). The only thing not working -- reported by others -- is that you can't get info on how much ink is left on the Canon. I can easily live without that to gain the flexibility.br /br /Some advice on setup:br /1. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT use the quick start instructions. Instead get the instruction manual off the included CD.br /br /2. When adding a printer from one of your computers (whether Windows or Linux) use the IP address of the TE100 instead of its computer name.br /br /Don't expect all-in-one printers or scanners to work fully. Just use it as it was designed -- as a print server.

TRENDnet 3-Port Print Server TE100-P21 (Blue) Feature

  • Product Type - PrintServer

Had some difficulties setting this unit up. Had to call tech support (which was fine). They had me do some things not in the manual to get it up and running. Once this was done it works as advertised.

NETGEAR WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server with 4-port Switch Reviews

This print server is a pain for your average user, but when you look at the benefits like 2 USB ports, 4 ethernet ports plus the wireless functionality with WPA-PSK security I personaly think it's worth it, for only .00 it's a steal.br /Well of course you could find something really easy to setup like the latest new external hard drives with netwoking capabilities, even print server functionality but that cost about 5 times the price of this unit(5x)br /These are my intructions to install this NETGEAR print server on a windows machine with Linksys router to print on a Brother MFC 7420:**br /First tryed to follow instructions from CD no luck, so I had to upgrade firmware to Firmware Version V1.0_025 and upgrade software to 2.0br /During setup Print Server was assigning IP 192.168.1.202 br /I had to change that to 192.168.1.110 to fall within my Linksys range (my network range was between 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.149)br /Set the same security as my network to WPA-PSK br /And when following CD install prompts I ran into errors, ignored errors and in my printer's PROPERTIES in PORTS tab I moved my printer from port LPT1 to the new TCP/IP PORT that I just created( when adding tcp/ip port in the PORT NAME PRINTER NAME enter the ip address only, in my case 192.168.1.110 and in PROTOCOL check the LPR not the RAW, also in the QUEUE enter L1 and if needed L2 for a second printer and finaly check the LPR BYTE COUNTING IS ENABLED)br /br /good luck.

Works great with HP Color Laserjet 3700 - Joy Aurigemma - Honolulu, HI United States
My husband volunteers as a computer administrator at an elementary school. Someone donated an HP Color Laserjet 3700 printer (high quality, high volume color laser, no longer made). The only issue with the HP 3700 was that the network card was starting to fail; sometimes it worked, sometimes not. A new NIC for the 3700 was 0+ with no warranty. Tried the WGPS606 print server even though the HP 3700 was not on the supported list. It worked great. The trickiest part is setting up the print server initially, but even that is done with an easy-to-use software wizard. Configuring the client PCs to use the print server was VERY easy; took less than 1 minute on each PC - just put in the Resource CD and follow the prompts to install on a PC. br /br /The great thing is that this print server supports two printers, has a 4 port wired switch, and can be used as a wireless G access point. For the price, functionality, and ease of setup I gladly give this 5 stars.
